Fall This or That: Two Ways to Say Nothing's Better Than Fall

Hi friends! ๐Ÿ‚ Fall is hands-down my favorite season to stamp. The cozy colors, the crisp mornings, a warm mug next to my craft table... I just love it! So this week I tried a little challenge: I took the very same sentiment, "Nothing's better than Fall", and made two completely different cards with it.

THIS one is warm and bold, with big Pumpkin Pie and Crushed Curry blooms, rich Early Espresso leaves and a Crumb Cake frame. THAT one is soft and elegant, with tone-on-tone soft green-sage leaves, a little gold shimmer and lots of clean white space. Same words, two totally different moods!

Vote: THIS or THAT? ๐Ÿ

Which one would you make? Leave a comment below with THIS or THAT, or hop over to my Facebook Page, Stampin with Kelly, and vote there. There's no wrong answer! Both tutorials are below, so you can make one, the other, or both. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Card A: THIS (Warm & Bold) ๐Ÿงก

This one is all cozy sweaters and pumpkin spice! Big stamped blooms, deep brown leaves and a Crumb Cake frame make it feel like a walk through the leaves.

Cut measurements (A2 card, 4-1/4" x 5-1/2")

PieceCardstockSize
Card baseCrumb Cake8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4"
Front panel (floral cutouts)Basic White3-1/4" x 4-1/2" (1/2" Crumb Cake margin all round)
Front flowerBasic White or Pumpkin Piestamp, then die-cut
Larger back flowerBasic White or Crushed Currystamp, then die-cut
Leaves (4–5)Early Espressodie-cut
Inside panelBasic Whitetrim to fit

How I made it

  1. Make the base. Cut the Crumb Cake base to 8-1/2" x 5-1/2". Score at 4-1/4" and fold.
  2. Cut the floral panel. Cut the Basic White panel to 3-1/4" x 4-1/2". Die-cut the little four-petal flowers (a small flower die from the Lovely Arrangements Dies) across the lower middle, scattering them loosely toward the left.
  3. Stamp the flowers. Stamp the Lovely Arrangements flower line art in Pumpkin Pie (front flower) and Crushed Curry (the larger flower behind it). Die-cut both with the coordinating Lovely Arrangements Dies.
  4. Cut the leaves. Die-cut 4–5 leaves from Early Espresso cardstock with the Lovely Arrangements Dies.
  5. Stamp the sentiment. Stamp "NOTHING'S BETTER THAN" in Early Espresso at the lower left of the white panel, then the script "Fall" just below it (More Than Autumn).
  6. Adhere the panel. Adhere the white panel to the card front, centered, leaving a 1/2" Crumb Cake margin all round.
  7. Build the cluster. Tuck the leaves in first at the upper right, angling them out top-left, top-right and bottom. Add the Crushed Curry flower, then the Pumpkin Pie flower on Stampin' Dimensionals, slightly offset down and to the left.
  8. Finish with a bow. Tie a small Linen Thread bow, tuck it under the flowers, and add 3–4 Gold Adhesive-Backed Dots around the cluster.
  9. Inside. Brush (blend) Pumpkin Pie and Crushed Curry inks onto the inside flower panel, stamp "Hello Friend" (also from Lovely Arrangements), and adhere it inside.

Card B: THAT (Soft & Elegant) ๐Ÿค

Now for something quieter! Tone-on-tone soft green-sage leaves, a skinny strip of gold and lots of white space. Simple, classy, and so pretty in person.

Cut measurements (A2 card, 4-1/4" x 5-1/2")

PieceCardstockSize
Card baseThick Basic White8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4"
Leaf panelBasic Beige3-1/4" x 2-3/4", set 1/2" from the top and sides
Gold stripGold Foil Sheets3-1/4" x 1/8", under the bottom edge of the panel
Inside panelBasic Whitetrim to fit

How I made it

  1. Make the base. Cut the Thick Basic White base to 8-1/2" x 5-1/2". Score at 4-1/4" and fold.
  2. Stamp the leaf panel. Cut the Basic Beige panel to 3-1/4" x 2-3/4". Stamp leaves all over it in Basic Beige ink, tone on tone, rotating the stamp each time and letting some leaves run off the edges. Tip: my Basic Beige ink stamps with a soft green-sage tint on Basic Beige cardstock, so expect a gentle green look like mine!
  3. Add the gold. Cut a 3-1/4" x 1/8" strip of Gold Foil Sheets and adhere it under the bottom edge of the panel.
  4. Place the panel. Adhere the panel and strip 1/2" from the top and sides of the card front.
  5. Stamp the sentiment. Stamp "Nothing's better than" in Basic Beige ink below the panel. Stamp "Fall" in VersaMark, cover with gold embossing powder and heat emboss (More Than Autumn).
  6. Bow and gold dots. Tie a small Linen Thread bow to the right of "Fall" and add two Gold Adhesive-Backed Dots.
  7. Inside and envelope. Heat emboss a few leaves in gold at a corner of the inside panel and on the envelope flap, then adhere the inside panel.
