Valentine Treat Bag with Petal Cone cuts

I thought I'd better bag up the Valentine M&M's before there weren't anymore left!  So I got out my small cello bags and gave it some thought...Here's what happened...
To get the scalloped topper, I took a piece of 3 1/4 x 4 inch real red card stock and folded it in half with my bone folder.  I laid the fold right up next to the cut line of the scallop on the die and taped it in place on the new Bigz Petal Cone die from the new Occasions Mini Catalog 2011. (Download by clicking the catalog on the right hand side of the screen)

Then I add a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock to the half circle portion (petal) of the petal cone die and taped it in place.
Run these through the Big Shot sandwiched between the acrylic plates.
And you'll end up with these two pieces.
Staple the scallop you created over the top of the bag.
Use your snail adhesive to adhere the white petal to the front of the bag.
From the back of the bag, trim the extra white card stock close to the edge of the topper.  Your paper snips are great for this job!
Stamp the trio of hearts on whisper white card stock in real red ink and punch out using the heart to heart punch.

In the photo above I have one in Melon Mambo and Real Red.  Aren't they adorable?  And they were SO easy to make.  Hope you get to try one for yourself! Here's a printable tutorial for your use.
I'm going to have to come back later for all the details of the product...bedtime for the little one!

Stampin' Up! Morning Cup card with Eyelet lace

Tea, anyone?  I think this stamp set is one of my favorites.  I've had it for quite a while, and yet this is the first card I've made with it.  What's up with that?  And honestly, I wasn't trying to make a card with this set, I was trying to make a card with this eyelet lace.  The eyelet lace reminded me of kitchen curtains and the kitchen curtains made me think of coffee or tea and the stacked cups made me think of paper piecing...so here you have it.
While you're here, leave a comment on my Valentine Treat Bag Post HERE for the BLOG CANDY givaway! (drawing this Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011)
Directions:
Fold a piece of 4 1/4 x 11" crumb cake card stock in half.  Crease with a bone folder.  Use a corner rounder to round the bottom edges of both the front and back of the card base.  Take two strips of very vanilla card stock (1x 5 and 1 1/4 x 5 inches) and punch along one edge of each using the Eyelet Border Punch.  Sponge some Crumb Cake Classic ink around the edges of the card base and along all edges of the eyelet punched borders.  Run the strips of punched very vanilla through a paper crimper.
Attach a piece of polka dot paper from the Love Letter designer series paper pack (1 1/4 x 4 1/4") to the top edge of the card front.  Layer the lace as shown and attach just under the polka dot paper.  Tie a piece of cherry cobbler seam binding ribbon around the card as shown in the photo above.  Stamp the stack of tea cups in black Staz On ink in the lower right hand corner of the card front.
Stamp the tea cup stack on a piece of polka dot paper, cherry cobbler, crumb cake (not shown) and very vanilla card stock .
Stamp "tea"rrific sentiment on very vanilla and punch out using the medium jewelry tag punch.  Punch a flower from cherry cobbler card stock using the the flower punch from Itty Bitty Punch Pack.  Layer and glue these two together as shown below.  Use a paper piercer to poke a small hole at the top of the tag and the center of the flower punch.  Tie a piece of linen thread through and knot it around the cherry cobbler bow on the card front.  I used a small piece of a Stampin Dimensional to  hold the tag in place where I wanted it.

Cut out the tea cup stack from very vanilla.  Use an Exacto knive to cut out the handles on the two bottom cups. I used a blender pen and a cherry cobbler Stampin Write marker to color in the bottom and top cups as shown.  Stamping Tip:  Use your acrylic stamping block as a color palette.  Color a little marker right on the block and pick up the color with your blender pen.  It won't matter if it dries, you're blender pen or aqua pen will still pick up the color off the block.
Cut out the cups as shown in the photo above from the other cup stacks that you stamped.  Glue the cut out cups on top of the very vanilla stack.  Glue the paper pieced stack on top of the stamped image on the card front. (This technique is called Paper Piecing...it's fun, do it often...very rewarding)

And my final Stamping Tip for this card is to use a Sahara Sand Stampin Write marker to outline the tea cup stack and the lower edges of the eyelet lace.  It's a very subtle addition, but I think adds just the right amount of dimension and attention to detail.
I appreciate you stopping by and would love to hear from you!  Everything on this card is from Stampin Up! and you can shop with me in my online store anytime, anywhere! Don't forget about the Blog Candy on my previous post! Valentine Treat Bag Post  (drawing this Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011)

Valentine Treat Bag with Stampin' Up! Top Note Die

This was one of last nights Stamp Club projects!
I do believe that the Top Note die was the first Stampin' Up! die I purchased several years ago when I was still just a customer...and a very happy customer as well.  These treat bags that you can make with the top note and a small paper bag are just the cutest!!  Aren't they!  And they are so much fun to give away!
Because I love them so much and because I appreciate all my customers and visitors so much, I'm going to give away my very first BLOG CANDY!  Leave a comment on this post and next Tuesday, January 18, 2011, I will have random.org draw a number for the winner.  The winner will receive a kit in the mail with all the parts to make your own valentine treat bag!  (You'll have to fill it yourself with treats, but that shouldn't be too hard!)
Here's how I did it...(view printable or downloadable google doc instructions here)
Start with a small paper bag.  The bag I used measures 4 x 8 x 2 1/2 inches.  Cut off the top so that the end of the bag is 3 inches tall, as shown above.
Cut out 2 Top Note dies using Pretty in Pink cardstock and one using the Real Red polka Dot pattern from the Brights Designer Series Patterned Paper Pack or from the special Filled with Love offering good through Jan. 24.  See my post here on that Filled With Love special.  The polka dot Real Red top note I trimmed to about 1 1/4 inches wide.  I took a strip of Real Red cardstock that was cut into a strip of 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches and punched it with the scallop border edge punch.  I also prepared my stamped image. Colors used are Old Olive, Real Red, and Pretty in Pink.
Use the large oval punch to punch out an oval with printer paper.  You need something thin so the layers don't get too thick and make it too difficult to punch.  Add a little bit of adhesive or Dotto to the punched oval and place it on one of the pink top notes where you want your handle to be.
THERE'S A PHOTO MISSING HERE...BUT TURN YOUR PUNCH OVER AND LINE UP THAT PUNCHED PINTER PAPER OVAL IN THE PUNCH WINDOW AND PUNCH OUT.
Trim off the edge of the Real Red top note piece using the dotted lines in the die as your guide.  This creates a nice little pink edge...remember its all in the little details and Stampin' Up! product really gives you ample reason to add little details like this.
Then adhere your Real Red polka dot piece right over the punched handle, as shown above.
Turn your front piece over and punch out the Real Red patterned piece.  Line up with the oval punch window as shown below.
The the photo below is what you should have now.
Next, line up the two Pretty and Pink top note die cuts  as shown below, so you can punch the handle on the back piece.
Put that printer paper oval punch inside the window, being careful to keep your Pretty in Pink pieces aligned.
Remove the top piece and keep the printer paper oval in place, as shown below.
Line up the printer paper oval inside the window of your large oval punch and punch out.
Next you can add your stamped image as shown below.  The center of the O in LOVE was stamped separately on Whisper White with Pretty in Pink classic ink and punched out with the 3/4" circle punch.
Add the strip of Real Red scallop border that you punched earlier as shown below.
Turn the front of the bag over to trim the ends of the scallop border off along the edge of the Pretty in Pink top note.
Add a piece of Old Olive 1/8th inch Taffeta Ribbon just above the scalloped border.  My example shows a knot tied in the ribbon, but when I did this for my stamp club, I just added the ribbon without the knot and I thought that looked better because of the knotted closure ribbon.  I didn't think you needed two ribbon knots.
To attach the paper bag, add adhesive to the front of the bag (the part that is not folded...does that make sense?) and line up on the back of the top note front (the decorated piece), as shown below.
Add adhesive to the back of the bag , make sure you fold down the bottom of the bag so it will open all the way up.  Line up your two top notes and adhere (no photo).  Then, putting your punch inside the bag so you can see the paper bag showing through the handles, line up the oval window inside the punch window and punch out that portion of the paper bag that is showing. The more care you take in lining up the window with the already punched top note, the easier it will be to punch.
Do that for both front and back top notes and fill the bag with treats as shown below.
Stamp the Feb 14 stamp from the Filled with Love Stamp Set  in Real Red on Whisper White.  Punch out this image with the 1" circle punch.  Punch the tag you just made with the 16th inch hole punch and add a piece of linen thread.
Use a piece of Real Red Satin Ribbon to tie the bag closed.  Tie the Feb 14 tag on the ribbon and your treat bag is done and ready to give away to someone special.
Printable Google doc instructions here.

Stampin' Up! Christmas Cards 2010

I wanted to share the handmade Christmas cards I received this year.  I loved them all so much.  A handmade card is such a special treat. I love to examine them and figure out how they made them.  It's fun to tell them what a beautiful job they did. I love the joy they bring.
This one was from another Stampin' Up! demonstrator here in my town, Julie J.
This one was from my mother-in-law who is also part of one of my clubs.
This one is from my husbands aunt, Roxi E.  The tree sparkles, but you can't see it in this photo.
This one is from my mom!  Didn't she do a terrific job?
This one is from my aunt, Shelly H.  I love the color combo.
This one is from my upline, Natalie T.  She is such an inspiration!  Her card has a cool fold displaying two photos and a Christmas letter.  I just love it!
This flap on Natalie's card opens up as well.
This is one from my downline, Dana M.  After she colored the image, she dabbed versamark with a sponge dauber over the image and embossed with iridescent ice embossing powder.  It's really quite lovely in person.
I hope you enjoyed taking a look.  I certainly enjoyed receiving them!
Happy Stamping!
